Dominó Foxtrot 2021
Region: Alentejo
Producer: Vitor Claro
Foxtrot is the light-footed, fruit-driven red wine from Vitor Claro. The basis is formed by a vineyard with only Aragonez grapes. These are lightly pressed as for a rosé so that only the juice is released without many tannins. The Aragonez accounts for 1/3 of the blend. Another part comes from the vineyard in front of the winery in Salão Frio. That is an old field blend with a dominance of Grand Noir. Those old bush vines give depth to the wine. The last part comes from several small plots with mainly white grapes such as Fernão Pires and Moscatel.
It may sound unusual to find so many white grapes in a red wine, but that is certainly not the case in Portuguese tradition.
