Po de Poeira tinto 2021
Region: Douro
Producer: Jorge Moreira (Poeira)
This is the 2nd wine of Poeira, from the same north-facing slope as the top wine, but from a part with younger vines (planting 2001). This makes for a lighter and more accessible version, but still with the distinct character that Jorge expresses in his wines. Like the top wine, he does not feel the urge to polish the structure too much and gives free rein to the wild, rough nature of the Douro. The location of the vineyard (Terra Feita near Provesende in the Cima Corgo) has been highly regarded for many years. The grapes of the south-oriented slope are invariably part of the blend that Taylor's uses for his Vintage Porto. The other side is shaded for most of the day, supplying grapes that are therefore of no interest to Taylor's. Jorge who make slightly less concentrated wines to give the soil every opportunity to tell the terroir story, takes full advantage of it.
